Questions to ask yourself before your first purchase
Before embarking on a real estate purchase, it is imperative to ask yourself the right questions.
One of the most relevant questions is to define what you are looking for. Some criteria can be clear and non-negotiable, others more flexible. Among them, we can list: the location (city, countryside), proximity (public transport, shops, schools), type of property (old, modern), property to be renovated or ready to use, size and number of rooms, environment (courtyard, garden, fence, terrace…).
The second most important question is financing. Will I take out a mortgage? Do I have the necessary funds to buy?
It is necessary to estimate the costs, the personal contributions, the deposits, the notary and bank fees etc…
The third question: how to make my transaction a success? Will I go through a real estate agent and pay agency fees, or will I deal directly with the seller?
The question of the time it will take and the time I have available is the fourth thing to consider.
Finally, the last question to ask is how to manage the move. How and how long will it take me to manage the paperwork? How long will the move take me? Am I in a hurry? Do I need to hire movers?
These questions are essential to ensure that the purchase and move do not become a stressful and tedious process.
